Jeremy's Preschool Christmas Party!

Jeremy's Christmas party @ preschool was today. They did one big party instead of the individual classroom parties. They had the 4yr old class do a mini play about the birth of Christ. Afterwards the 3yr old class did a segment of some Christmas songs. Here's a video of that (Jeremy is beside the angel on the right)!

What a Wednesday

It's been a busy day for this mommy! Our two new puppies like to wake me up around 5:30am EVERY morning! So not fun. Then my alarm goes off at 7:30am to get up. Gotta get ready, Jeremy ready and fed before leaving at 8:30am to take little man to school. I get him off to school, then momma and I head out to do some THREE hour Christmas shopping. Which by the way, I got the kids the cutest pair of sneakers! I can't wait to give them to the kids!!!!

Once momma and I are done shopping, it's time to get little man from school..grab some lunch and then head home. I've seen Ray today for a total of about an hour. Not cool. Once I get home it's non-stop kids, and dogs! I don't know who wants/requires more attention..my kids or my fur babies. The kids go down for nap..mommy does some cleaning (a never ending process it seems).

I get done with my little bit of housework about 30 minutes before what should've been the end of nap, and look forward to some "me" time...BUT...what happens?? I hear a faint little voice calling "mommy, can me get up???". What the heck, why not?!

Once Jeremy's up, it's not long after that Tay's up. So we get dressed, make a trip to the grocery store and back..get Taylor dressed for dance, and off we go. She did super a dance, by the way!

When we got home, the kids were excited because I let them stay up past bedtime to do their gingerbread house. It's a delightful mess! :)

I put the kids to bed, finished my housework, and put away some laundry. Now I'm gonna relax and hope and pray that tomorrow is a little more "calm"!

A long Saturday

Today, we went to Ray's grandparents so he could help them move. Boy, it seemed like it took forever. We got there around 3pm and didn't leave until 9pm. We also had dinner there, which was part of our 6 hour visit. I fixed dinner at their old house, so when they got back from their new house, Ray's grandma wouldn't have to worry about cooking. We had homemade chili! Totally appropriate for the COLD, COLD, COLD weather we had today! The kids thought it was funny to see mommy cooking in grandma Mildred's kitchen. Oh well! They totally wore themselves out from running and playing at Ray's grandparents house. Anyhow, here is the chili recipe and some new pictures of the kids!

CHILI
  • 1 reg. can Kidney Beans
  • 1 reg. can Chili Beans
  • 2 reg. can Pork & Beans
  • 1 chopped tomato
  • 1 can Tomato soup
  • 1 soup can water
  • 1 jar Salsa (I use hot because we like it spicy!)
  • 1 lb. Hamburger

Brown the hamburger. Drain. Combine all ingredients and let simmer on low for an hour!

Now onto the kids!

Our fire department visit!

I decided this year that the kids and I would make cookies and take them to the fire department in Mt. Pleasant! My mom and I used to do this when I was little, but we took them to the homeless shelter instead. I figured since my kids are {OBSESSED} with fire trucks and firemen that the fire department would be more appropriate.

Chicken Casserole

*4-5 Chicken Breasts
* 1 can Cream of Mushroom Soup
* 1 can Cream of Chicken Soup
* 2 cans Chicken Broth from the boiled chicken
* 1 pkg. Stuffing Mix
* 1 stick Butter

Melt 1 stick of butter, pour over the stuffing mix. Put half of this in the bottom of a casserole dish. Add cooked chicken with the soups, the add the rest of the stuffing mix to the top. Bake @ 350 for 20-30 minutes!

OVEN MUSHROOM RICE

-1c. Uncooked Rice (I use brown rice)
-4oz. can Sliced Mushrooms, drained (I chopped up 4 whole mushrooms and used those)
-1/2c. Minced Green Onions
-2T. Butter
2c. Chciken Broth
-1tsp. Salt

Preheat oven to 375. Grease casserole dish. Place rice and mushrooms in casserole dish, set aside. Saute onion in butter until tender. Add chicken broth and salt; bring to a boil. Pour over rice and stir well. Cover and bake 25 minutes or until tender. Fluff lightly with a fork before serving!!

Spray Paint Works Wonders!!

Let me start off by saying that if you haven't visted Creations by Kara, you really should head over there now! She's awesome! She transforms cheap, thrifty items into fabolous pieces!

Anyways, I was checking out her blog this weekend and she inspired me to become friends with...SPRAY PAINT!! Normally I let my husband deal with spray painting stuff, but I just had to try it out.

I found an old pitcher that I've had forever. I actually had it in my yardsale pile! It was this bright summer blue. YUCK!! I found some white spray paint in my husbands building and gave her a new look. Well once it was done being painted, I knew it needed something else so we headed to Hobby Lobby and got some green & red ribbon and some cranberry things (they look like cranberries to me!!). I tied the ribbon around the pitcher and put in the cranberry things and viola!!
Here's my transformed pitcher:

After my sucessful pitcher renovation, I decided to make a new frame for my laundry area (I'm getting ready to re-decorate!). I had a plain wooden 8x10 frame and I spray painted it black! The wording in the back, I printed off of my computer on regular paper. While I was at Hobby Lobby (see above paragraphs), I picked up a wooden "L". I spray painted it black. I mod podged the "L" onto my paper. And tied the black and white ribbon (I had on hand) around the top of the frame!

Easy Pumpkin Pie

My husband has been begging me for some PUMPKIN PIE since the beginning of November, so I finally gave in and made it for him.

1 can (30 oz.) LIBBY'S® Easy Pumpkin Pie Mix
2/3 cup (5 fl.-oz can) NESTLÉ® CARNATION® Evaporated Milk
2 large eggs, beaten
1 unbaked 9-inch (4-cup volume) deep-dish pie shell

Mix the pumpkin, eggs, and milk in a large bowl. Pour into the unbaked pie crust. Bake @ 425 for 15 minutes, then reduce temperature to 350 and bake for 50-60 minutes. Put on a wire rack and let it cool 2 hours before serving.

*We topped our slices with a dollop of whipped cream and sprinkled it with cinnamon!

Handmade Christmas Ornaments

My son decided he wanted to give his teachers ornaments this year for Christmas. So I decided we make them instead of buying them. Here's what we have (* note: this picture does not do the ornaments justice

To make these, I used:

  1. Clear glass bulbs
  2. Red & Green craft paint
  3. Mini foam
  4. Ribbon

I just filled them with the mini foam, and decorated each globe. I let it dry and then tied ribbon to them, and viola!

Around the Dinner Table--What's on Your Plate?

What did you all have for dinner tonight? I like trying new recipes out!! *wink, wink*

Tonight we had Cheesey Shepard's Pie with Broccoli & Cheese

Shepard's Pie
1 1/2 lb hamburger
1-2 cans beef gravy
1 bag frozen mixed veggies
Mashed potatoes (2pks or 1 sm pot of homemade)
Cheese
Brown hamburger, drain. Prepare mashed potatoes. Mix hamburger, veggies, & gravy and pour into baking dish. Top with mashed potatoes; spread out evenly. Top with as much cheese as you like. Bake @ 350 for about 15-20 minutes! Yumm!!!

My Oh My..What a sweetie!

Let me preface this by starting off with saying that since Sunday (11/15) I've had a nasty cold!! Well since I haven't felt good, I've been avoiding the dreaded "H" word...housework!!! I still feel pretty bad, but enough is enough. I had to get something done today. So, with the help of my little helper boy, Jeremy, I got some cleaning done. His choice to help, not mine! But hey, mommy never turns down help!

First Jeremy and I started off by cleaning up his sisters room (with a little bit of assistance from Taylor!), then we cleaned: his room, their bathroom, we did 2 loads of laundry and dusted! He's an awesome little helper. And with that in mind I made a trip to the store for a helping surprise for Jeremy and Taylor. They both like banana pudding, so they're going to get to help make it with me tonight!!! I'll post pictures and the recipe of that tomorrow!!

Now onto some more goodies today....I'll update with what I have!!

Christmas Rag Wreath

How cute is this?!?! Wanna know how to make it?? Click HERE for the tutorial!

Super Cute Grateful Mini-Album

I was checking out different things online today and came across the cutest handmade mini photo album.
Here are the pictures and instructions (courtesy of Sisters Stuff)!

1. Use 4 regular brown paper bags and cut off the top so that they measure 6 1/2 inches.

2. Next round the corners and punch holes in the paper bags for the metal rings to put in later.

3. Then glue the bottom of two paper bags together, and glue another set together.

4. I then cover the bags with patterned paper and card stock.I wanted one of the ends to be a small page and the other to be a pocket. The pocket page I glued on three sides (top, bottom and inside) to form a little pocket.
(Same step, different look)

Final touches on the book
